Dwarfguard 2.0.0 "Keeper" is available

Dwarfguard 2.0.0 "Keeper" is released after a successful BETA program started at the end of last year.

Upgrading information:

  • Full one-step automated upgrade is supported from the release candidate deployments - Dwarfguard 1.9.0 (2.0 RC1 "Keeper RC1")
  • Full one-step automated upgrade is supported from the last beta release - Dwarfguard 1.4.3 (2.0 BETA 4 "Afterparty 4")
  • Full multi-step automated upgrade path is available throughout the whole BETA program (BETA1 -> BETA2 -> BETA3 -> BETA4 -> 2.0)
  • Partial automated upgrade is supported from the last oldstable Dwarfguard 1.0.6 "Party patch 6"

There will be separate blogpost and article published about options for upgrading oldstable (1.0.x) to 2.0. For the time being refer to the Dwarfguard 2.0 "Keeper" release page.

The 2.0 "Keeper" supports following underlaying OS:

  1. Debian GNU/Linux 13 - the default option you should take for any new deployment
  2. Debian GNU/Linux 12 - supported because of the upgrades from older Dwarfguard versions. Once the upgrade to Dwarfguard 2.0 is done, it is possible to perform a rolling upgrade of the OS to version 13 while introducing some service downtime. A separate blogpost/article will be published regarding this topic. For the time being refer to the Dwarfguard 2.0 "Keeper" release page.

There are multiple new features introduced by this major release but to name just a few:

  1. Firmware management is now possible for additional device type - Teltonika cellular routers.
  2. Customizable and centrally managed configuration profiles for Advantech devices has been implemented.
  3. A new router device type is supported - CS Tech gateway and datalogger devices (Colias CSG).
  4. SNMP Gateway has been added, primarily to allow integration of old Advantech devices (v1) into the fleet, but you can see basic data about any device type.
  5. Next to the WWW tunnels, the web proxy for an SSH tunnel has been integrated.
  6. New data metrics has been added - Device Model name, Signal CSQ, RSSI
  7. Multiple GUI improvements and customizations were implemented
  8. For more complete changes list, refer to the Dwarfguard 2.0 "Keeper" release page.

With the release of the Dwarfguard 2.0, the oldstable release (1.0.6 being the last patchlevel version there) is becoming obsolete. While still being supported to a certain extent (especially for facilitating production deployments upgrade beyond the partial upgrades), you can expect the release to be designated EOL soon. Any customers with valid support (any paid support level) are expected to contact their distributors to receive free license upgrade to Dwarfguard 2.0 if their license does not allow the upgrade.
